The fourth and final Test of the four Test series between Australia and India began on January 7th 2021.

The Australian side is spearheaded by the experienced batting combination of David Warner and Marcus Harris who have been instrumental in setting up a solid platform for the team so far in this Test series.

Veteran Steve Smith is also a key batsman for the side, along with Travis Head and Matthew Wade who have performed well in their respective innings.

In the bowling department, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have led the attack well so far in the series.

Aus vs Ind: Test 4 of 4 Day 3 – Season 1 Recap

The much-anticipated Aus vs Ind Test series has finally come to a close with the fourth and final match of the series.

After three days of intense competition, Day 3 of Test 4 provided some of the most thrilling cricket of the season.

With both teams putting in a top-notch performance, the match ended in an exciting draw.

In this blog post, we will provide a recap of Day 3 of Test 4 of the Aus vs Ind series, highlighting all the key moments from the match.

The Match

The 4th and final Test of the 4 Day series between Australia and India took place on Day 3 of the Season 1 tour.

The match saw some tense moments as both teams fought hard to gain the upper hand.

Australia batted first, scoring 294 runs in their first innings, with Steve Smith and David Warner both making centuries.

In response, India put up a good fight, but could only manage 247 runs in their first innings.

Cheteshwar Pujara was the highest scorer for India, with a gritty 81.

Australia were then able to increase their lead significantly in the second innings, thanks to an impressive batting display from Marnus Labuschagne (59) and Travis Head (55).

They eventually declared at 355-7, giving India a massive total of 648 runs to chase.

India’s second innings started off shaky, but captain Virat Kohli steadied the ship with a brilliant century (104).

Despite this effort, India fell short of the target by 122 runs, resulting in a comprehensive victory for Australia.

The Result

The fourth and final Test of the season between Australia and India ended in a draw, with both teams taking 1 point each.

India batted first and posted a total of 336/7 on the board.

In reply, Australia could only manage to reach 265/8 in their first innings, giving India a lead of 71 runs.

In the second innings, Australia put up a much better show, amassing 306 runs, setting India a target of 378 runs to win.

However, India failed to reach the target, managing to reach only 311/7 when the umpires declared the match a draw.

With the draw, both teams were able to salvage 1 point from the four-match series.

India had previously taken a 2-1 lead in the series, but an impressive batting performance from Australia in the final Test enabled them to level the score at 2-2.

Despite the draw, India was still able to retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy, having won the last series by 2-1.

The Aftermath

The fourth and final Test match of the Aus vs Ind series was certainly an entertaining one, with India pulling off an emphatic victory in the end.

With the series already decided in favor of India, the result of this final Test was mainly a matter of pride.

For Australia, it was yet another disappointing performance in the series, although they can take some solace in the fact that they managed to avoid a series whitewash.

For India, on the other hand, the series was a resounding success, with their all round performance being particularly impressive.
